CHIEF ENGINEER
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Licensed Engineer
- At least 5 - 10 years experience in supervisory and/or managerial experience
- Preferably with Hotel experience
- Must have leadership skills
- With positive work attitude, patient and honest.
- Must be a team player

- Walk - in Chiller and Freezers
- Split Type Aircon
- Heat Pump, Booster Pump, Fire Pump, Circulating Pump
- Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
- Generator Set (1000 KBE)
- Elevators
- Sprinklers
- Plumbing
Job Summary:
Responsible for the administration of the engineering department, including proper maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment as well as technical improvements, preventive maintenance and utilities consumption control, also responsible for providing customers with a secure, comfortable environment by maintaining the Hotel’s assets through on-going preventive maintenance program and ensuring that all facilities in the Hotel are in good conditional and operational.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides value added service to customers by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.
- Handles difficult situations effectively.
- Meets and exceeds expectation of employees by utilizing leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction of direct reports.
- Creates a positive work environment for all employees.
- Develops employees to maximize potential and prepare for future promotional opportunities by conduct counseling sessions, determining developmental needs and allowing these needs to be met.
- Selects orients and trains qualified employees.
- Conducts effective employee meetings and counseling sessions.
- Determines, communicates, and monitors achievement of standards of performance on timely basis.
- Plans, designs, and implants minor projects to improve plant efficiency or reduce other operating and maintenance costs.
- Identifies the needs within the hotel.
- Designs and makes drawing and specifications.
- Estimates costs.
- Calls for quotation and liaises with outside contractors, where work is not done “in house”
- Supervises project implementations.
- Coordinates/informs other departments with regards to inconvenience, noise, and duration.
- Plans and implements a preventive maintenance system to try and achieve zero defects for all equipment in the hotel.
Training.
- Provides training to all engineering staff to ensure efficient operation, proper maintenance, and repair to equipment as well as good morale.
Energy and Utility Management
- Controls Utilities supply on a daily basis.
- Monitors consumption, analyses and checks invoices by suppliers and utility companies.
- Designs and supervises recycling programs; aluminum, paper, plastic, glass, etc.
- Minimize utility consumption.
- Implements formal energy management programmed.
Customer Relation.
- Communicates with VIP guests. Inquires about their stay in the hotel, comfort, preferences, and problems.
- Immediately acts upon comments or complaints.
- Provides assistance to other departments wherever possible.
- Delegates work for proper implementation and control.
- Monitor manpower requirements.
- Ensures maintenance on electrical and mechanical are efficient.
- Develops and implement strategies to achieve goals of zero customer complaints, willingness to return, and customer satisfaction index.
- Ensures adherence to applicable laws by meeting with government and insurance inspector and performing follow-up as required.
- Keeps all mechanical, electrical, and structural blueprints and diagrams up to date, maintain library of part list, maintenance manuals, references books, and catalogs.
- Identifies needs and prepares manpower budget.
- Determines if engineering work can be done internally or through outside contractors.
- Schedules employee in accordance with work plan.
- Assigns work orders by priority, delegate’s duties and supervises work.
- Conducts performance appraisal for engineering management/supervisory staff.
- Keeps staff informed of expectations and goals of engineering department.
- Liaises with suppliers and contractors to obtain correct supplies and to ensure proper implementation of contracts.
- Negotiates, signs, and verifies maintenance contracts and invoices.
- Calls and liaises with contractors and consultants regarding exact requirements.
- Ensures that maintenance and repair sub-contractor out are executed in accordance with agreed and regulations.
- Liaises with government and statutory bodies to ensure compliance with regards to rules and regulations.
- Maintains and monitor inventory on a regular basis.
- Achieves the best price and suitability of product by appropriately selecting from available contractors and suppliers.
- Directs and aid in the replacement of systems that become inadequate or obsolete.
- Recommends, establishes, and maintains inventory level thresholds based on budget and availability of supplies.
- Identifies hazards and potential safety concerns.
- Takes necessary action.
- Trains and supervises Hotel Fire Brigade.
- Assures compliance with all health safety environment and security (HSES) rules and regulation.
- Ensures that all employees follow safety rules and procedures.
- Takes corrective action where required to improved safety of work areas.
- Keeps immediate superior promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Hotel policies and procedures to achieve that overall objective of this position.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster and promote any harmonious working climate.
- At all times, project a favorable image of Harolds Hotel to the public.
- Performs any other duties and tasks that may be assigned by immediate superiors from time to time.
